Valley Primary Academy

Joining Valley Primary Academy

Starting school is an important milestone for every child and family. At Valley Primary Academy, we aim to make joining our school a happy, positive and welcoming experience.

We welcome children from Reception through to Year 6. Children normally begin Reception in the September following their fourth birthday and remain with us until the end of the academic year in which they turn eleven.

Starting Reception

Children joining Reception through the normal admissions process, at the beginning of the academic year, will be invited to take part in transition activities and visits before starting school.

These visits allow children to become familiar with the academy, meet their classmates and get to know their class teacher, teaching assistant and other members of staff.

Families will receive further information about the transition arrangements, school routines, uniform, meals and their child’s start date before the beginning of the academic year.

Joining During the School Year

We also welcome children transferring to Valley Primary Academy during the school year.

Once a place has been offered and an admission date has been agreed, the child will be placed on roll and will attend full time from that date. In-year admissions do not follow a phased or transitional timetable.

Before the child starts, families will receive the information needed to help them prepare for their first day. Our staff will support the child as they settle into their new class and become familiar with the academy’s routines.
