Starting Reception in September 2027

We are delighted that you are considering Valley Primary Academy for your child’s education.

Choosing a primary school is an important decision, and we would be delighted to welcome you to visit our school. If you would like to arrange a tour with our Headteacher, please contact the school office.

Who can apply?

Children are due to start Reception in September 2027 if they were born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023.

Applying for a Reception Place

Applications for Reception places are managed by Norfolk County Council

You must submit an application even if your child currently attends the nursery at Valley Primary Academy. Attending our nursery does not guarantee or increase the likelihood of securing a Reception place.

Applications can be made online through the Norfolk County Council admissions website. We strongly encourage parents and carers to apply online before the closing date.

Deferring Your Child’s Start

Most children begin school full-time in September. However, if you wish to:

  • defer your child’s admission until later in the academic year (but before they reach compulsory school age), or
  • request that your child attends part-time initially,

you must still apply for a Reception place within the normal admissions round. Once a place has been offered, you should contact the school to discuss the available options.

School Tours

We warmly welcome prospective parents and carers to visit Valley Primary Academy.

A school tour is a great opportunity to:

  • Meet our Headteacher and staff.
  • Explore our Reception classrooms and learning environments.
  • Learn about our curriculum and school values.
  • Ask any questions about starting school.

To arrange a visit, please contact the school office:

In-Year Admissions

If you wish to transfer your child to Valley Primary Academy during the school year, you will need to make an in-year admission application

Applications can be made at any time during the academic year and are administered by Norfolk County Council

How to Apply

To apply for an in-year school place, please complete the online In-Year Admissions application through Norfolk County Council.

Once your application has been received, Norfolk County Council will consult with the school to determine whether a place is available in the appropriate year group. If a place can be offered, you will be contacted with details of your child’s admission and start date.

Before You Apply

We encourage families considering a move to Valley Primary Academy to arrange a visit to the school before submitting an application. This provides an opportunity to see our school in action, meet our staff and ask any questions you may have.

If a Place Is Not Available

If the relevant year group is full, your application may be refused. You will be informed of your right to appeal the decision and, where appropriate, your child can be placed on the waiting list in accordance with the school’s published admission arrangements.
