At Valley Primary Academy, we know the importance of lessons that take place outside the classroom.
In order to provide Cultural Capital and enrichment for all pupils, we have carefully selected fifty activities alongside our school councillors, which enhance our curriculum and provide exciting opportunities for children to develop key life skills and experiences during their time with us. We have called this selection ’50 things to do before you leave Valley’ and you can find a full list of what we pledge to offer below.
Activities begin in Reception and take place every year up until pupils leave at the end of Year 6. Where possible, experiences have been linked to the children’s topics, year group visits and subject lessons. They include learning useful life skills, taking part in cultural opportunities and experiencing the natural world and local area.
From Allotments to University
Our Allotment: Oak class go to the local allotments where we have a raised bed. Each week the children work to grow seasonal fruit and vegetables whilst learning about working collaboratively, turn taking, patience and resilience (mother-nature doesn’t tend to hurry!).
We are very pleased to be offering children access to the IntoUniversity.
IntoUniversity provides local learning centres where young people are inspired to achieve. It offers an innovative programme that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration.
